Centralized and DecentralizedWhat is Polarity Management? Some challenges are polarities to manage, rather than problems to
solve. Polarity managment involves moving from focusing on one pole as the problem and the other as
the solution (either/or thinking), to valuing both poles (both/and thinking). Good polarity management
gets the best of both poles while avoiding the limits of either.
What is a Polarity Map? A polarity map identifies the upsides and downsides of each pole, resulting
in a whole picture of the polarity to be managed.
Example: Task and Process Polarity Map:Steps in Creating Polarity Map
1. Identify a key polarity. Agree on names for the poles. Write them into the map. A map structure is
provided on the back of this sheet.
2. Brainstorm together the content for each quadrant.
Tips for Using Polarity Maps
1. Remember that to pursue the benefits of one pole, you must also pursue the benefits of the other
pole. The solution is not static.
2. You may want to identify indicators for each pole which will let you know when you are experiencing its downside. Putting feedback mechanisms in place aids in managing the polarity.
Steps in Creating Polarity Map
1. Identify a key polarity. Agree on names for the poles. Write them into the map.
2. Brainstorm together the content for each quadrant. Write this into the map.

Big Vs. Small Cities

When you are in a large city and you want to grab something to eat, the decision can be hard because there are so many different places to eat. Big cities have every type of fast food you can imagine such as Chinese, Asian, American, Mexican, Greek, and many more. They also have a huge selection of chain restaurants. One type of restaurant that you won’t find as often is the Mom and Pop restaurants. These aren’t as successful as they are in smaller cities and towns. In contrast small town cuisine is very limited compared to city food. Most of the restaurants there are family restaurants that have been passed from generation to generation. The fast food selection in small towns is also very limited. Some small towns do not even have a single fast food eatery.
In America most of our goods are purchased in stores. In large cities, there is an abundance of stores, everything from a specialty health food store to a party supply store, or even a name brand clothing store. But the supermarkets of a city may carry a lower grade of fresh produce and the prices for it are higher. In small towns the produce sections the food is fresh, and there’s usually not hard to find a sale on fruit. There had better be because often there’s a farmer selling even fresher produce at his stand just around the corner. The difference from large city shopping compared to small town shopping can be drastically different. In most cases small towns do not have shopping malls or specialty stores. They usually have a small supermarket and superstore. Prices for food may be lower in small towns, but prices are higher for just about everything else. The city has the megastores with their phenomenal bargains. When person who lives in a small town needs to do a lot of heavy duty non-food shopping, he goes to the nearest city. Cities usually have several malls with a huge selection of stores and services. Another thing that they have a large abundance of is supermarkets and superstores.

The Cato Institute’s War on Drugs AbstractThe Cato Institute was established to increase the understanding of public policies based on the principles of limited government, free markets, individual liberty, and peace. (Cato Institute) The Cato Institute was founded in 1974 in Wichita, Kansas. The founders were Charles G. Koch with co-founders Murray Rothbard and Edward H. Crane. The motto of the company is “Individual Liberty, Free Markets, and Peace”. The Cato Institute participants believe in limiting the power that the government has and for a more individual free thinking society. A prime example of this would be the ending of affirmative action and minimum wage. These are two exact examples of what the Cato Institute believes. The position in which the Cato Institute stands towards the country’s war on drugs is that the Controlled Substance Act of 1970 was a presidential move by congress and that some 44 years later there are still questions surrounding rather it has worked or not. The Cato Institute believes the following:• Repeal the controlled substances act of 1970.
• Repeal the federal mandatory minimum sentences and the mandatory sentencing guidelines.
• Direct the administration not to interfere with the implementation of the state initiatives that allow for medical use of marijuana.

These men are all talk; What is needed is action, action! This essay is about the anti slavery activist named john brown who felt that the only way to end slavery was to kill all who opposed him. And john brown will even die for his cause. In this essay I will talk about john browns early life, his raid on Harpers Ferry, and his trial. So thank you and I hope you enjoy this essay. I personally think he was right in what he believed in but his methods were not favorable. So I do not agree with what he did. John Brown was born May 9, 1800, in Torrington Conneticut. He was the fourth of the eight children. in 1805, the family moved to Hudson Ohio , where his father opened a tannery. Brown withdrew his membership from the Congregational church in the 1840s and never officially joined another church, but both he and his father Owen were fairly conventional evangelicals for the period with its focus on the pursuit of personal righteousness. Brown’s personal religion is fairly well documented. FUN FACT Brown’s father had as an apprentice Jesse R. Grant, father of future general and U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant. Later in his life he married twice having a total of 20 children. John also owned a few of his own buissnesses. He became a fervent abolitionist when he moved to Springfield Massachusetts. Later he began moving to Kansas where he then hacked to pieces five Proslavery men. This would later be known as the Powhattomie massacre. On October 16, 1859, Brown (leaving three men behind as a rear guard) led 18 men in an attack on the Harpers Ferry Armoury. The armory was a large complex of buildings that contained 100,000 muskets and rifles, which Brown planned to seize and use to arm local slaves. They would then head south, drawing off more and more slaves from plantations, and fighting only in self-defense.
