Drinking in High School

Drinking in High School
High School is one of the most substantial pieces of every person’s life because of the prodigious impact that is left on every person that experiences it. This project is very personal to me and my own life because of my story. I currently don’t live in my home and I am living place to place. I want to reach out to the teenagers that are or that have gone through a rough time during High School. I want them to understand that there is help that you can go to instead of trying to do it by urself. Sometimes, reaching out and taking someone’s hand is the beginning of a journey.
Have you ever been offered an alcoholic beverage? What about someone saying “Don’t worry, just have one little sip”? Most people have their first drink by the time they’re 13. That first drink can be the start of a troubled life.Drinking can make teens feel good, but that lasts only a short time. Teenagers on shows like “Gossip Girl” or “Degrassi” get drunk regularly, but those shows rarely explore the problems alcohol can cause. Alcohol clouds your brain and hinders your ability to make decisions. Excessive drinking literally makes your brain shrink and can cause serious damage. Binge drinking can cause learning disabilities and damage your memory. It distorts your vision and leads to blackouts. Teenagers often think that drinking will give you more energy, but alcohol isn’t an energy drink; it’s a depressant.Drinking alcohol affects your inhibitions and makes you do things you wouldn’t if you were sober. Many girls get pregnant and drop out of school because they make the mistake of drinking too much and having unprotected sex. Twelve percent of 15- to 17-year-olds reported having unprotected sex when drinking or using drugs. Also, 24 percent said that because of drinking or drugs they had “done more” sexually than they had intended. Sometimes girls don’t have a choice. Rape also happens when people drink too much. It only takes one night to mess…

Drug Legalization in Jamaica (argumentive)

Growing up, everyone is told that, “Drugs are bad for you,” time and time again. Now as a kid you don’t really understand the reasoning behind it, but you listen to your authority figure regardless. I remember being told this my entire life and even to this very day. But as I got older I realized that people would still use drugs even though it’s illegal. I could never understand why someone would go against the law and jeopardize their life just to use drugs? It was just a completely illogical thought that I would constantly push to the back of my mind once I grew frustrated of trying to figure it out. One of the most common, and mainstream drugs is Marijuana. Everybody young and old knows what marijuana is. Although, it is illegal in Jamaica people still use it, law enforcement no longer bothers to provide consequences to the people with the drugs. So the question here is, Why not just legalize marijuana in Jamaica? The debate to legalize marijuana in Jamaica has been fought over nonstop since the existence of the drug and its effects. Marijuana has been tested and proven to provide a very positive impact on the Jamaican society for many reasons. Some of these reasons are for Jamaica’s economy, health and even crime. These reasons could very well help Jamaica thrive in the future and that is why Marijuana should be legalized in Jamaica.
This naturally found plant known as marijuana is recognized all around the world. This plant is known to be a drug that gives users a “high” and is illegal in almost every location of the world. Some places are very strict when it comes to enforcing that law while others are very lenient. Jamaica is a stellar example of lenient enforcement by law. Today more and more people are deciding to side with pro marijuana legalization for America. People that never gave marijuana legalization a thought or were heavily against it are now starting to believe legalization would prove helpful for the United States of America….

Advocating Steroids

Topic:  Anabolic Steroids
Specific Purpose: To persuade and inform the audience about usage and the positive effects that can be brought out by them.
Thesis Statement: Steroids have been proven to have amazing capabilities and they could be the end of the search for the fountain of youth. I.  INTRODUCTION
A.  When we hear about steroids its usually on the T.V or radio talking about the latest athlete who’s admitted to using anabolic steroids, usually this doesn’t end well for the athlete, as well as the view on steroids. I agree that he was wrong to use them, that gave him an unfair advantage on the field and clearly is a banned substance in almost all sports, but what about general use outside of a professionally sanctioned sport? When we hear about steroids we also think about the side effects of steroids such as “roid rage” or acne and so on. But based off of what we hear from television, how do you really know if steroids cause these problems? This is the reason why I decided to do more research on steroids and from what I found I would like to share my findings with you.
B.  One of the people on the waiting list for an organ transplant might be someone you know.
C.  Thesis and Preview: Today I’d like to talk to you about first, the need for organ donors in our area, second, how you can become an organ donor after you die, and finally, how your family and organ donor recipients benefit from you donation.
[Transition into body of speech]: I’ll begin by telling you about the need for organ donors.
A.  People around the world but also right here in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois, need organ transplants and they need our help.
1.  The problem is that there is a lack of organs and organ donors who make organ transplantation possible.
a.  The need is many organs and tissues such as the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas, corneas, bone, skin, heart valves, and blood vessels(Iowa Statewide Organ Procurement Organization…

Early history: 2003-2004[edit]
Caspian loosely formed in Autumn of 2003 in Beverly, Massachusetts,[1] developing material through the first year of its existence, recording a demo in May 2004 and performing a small number of shows in late 2004 and early 2005, including a support for the Japanese post-rock band Mono.[2] The band’s first performance took place at The Pickled Onion in Beverly, Massachusetts on August 26, 2004. At the time the band had not yet chosen the name Caspian and were looking for a vocalist.
You Are The Conductor: 2005-2006[edit]
In January 2005, the band signed with Dopamine Records, releasing a debut EP, You Are the Conductor in November 2005.[3] This was followed, in January 2006, with the band’s first tour of the Northeast comprising four dates in New York, D.C. and Pittsburgh. In April and May 2006, the band embarked on its first full tour of the USA, reaching to the west coast and back. A hand pressed, limited edition (100 total) tour EP was released by the band in September 2006 on their second full tour of the United States.
The Four Trees: 2007-2008[edit]
Caspian guitarist Philip Jamieson performing in Tilburg, Netherlands
Over the course of 2006, the band developed material for a debut album, recording with Ethan Dussault again in August 2006 in Cambridge, Massachusetts at the newly renovated New Alliance Audio. Released on Dopamine Records on April 10, 2007,[4] their debut album, The Four Trees, continued their positive exposure to a growing underground of Post-Rock fans, and was named the No. 1 album of 2007 by The Silent Ballet. The album was re-released in Europe by Make My Day Records in July 2008. Later that year, they recorded a split 7″ with fellow Massachusetts band Constants.
Once again Caspian embarked on a three month long coast to coast tour of the United States to support the release. After learning that founding member, guitarist Calvin Joss, could no longer fulfill touring duties, Erin Burke-Moran of The…

self-reflection as a nurse

Self-Reflection as a NurseThe self- mandala represents the values of truthfulness, respect and trust. As a nursing student I would be reflecting upon these three values, how they influence my perception and actions and how will they affect my professional career as a nurse.
The first value to be discussed is truthfulness. I gained this value through constant guidance of my mother, who believed that truthfulness is necessary if one wants to live a fair and successful life.
The value of truthfulness has influenced both my personal and professional life. An example shall be telling my mother the truth that I had accidently broken the expensive crystal vase she got from her late grandfather. This was hard but I could not lie to her.
As a nurse, truthfulness shall help me gain the patient’s trust and confidence (Tuckett, 2006). By informing them about their condition, I shall be able to help them cope with their anxiety and stress, and to tolerate the treatment and pain more effectively (Tuckett, 2006). Knowing that I am not hiding the truth from them, the patient and his/her family shall be able to depend and share their concerns with me, thus allowing me to provide even better care.
Strategies are used to effectively disclose information to patients. According to Tuckett (2006), the nurse has to make an assessment of the residents and relative’s cognition, mood and psychological status, based on which she/he decides what part of the truth is to be disclosed. Care is to be taken that the truth disclosed is enough to ease the patient, but is not to the extent that it distresses the patient (Tuckett, 2006). Nurses should not lie but instead practice partial- truth telling in order to serve all purpose of care (Tuckett, 2006).
My self-mandala represents truthfulness through a pictorial figure that depicts Pinocchio lying as his nose grows, and his partner Jimmy Cricket showing resentment to it. The picture reflect the notion that lying should be condemned…

how healthy are you

Health is freedom from disease and sickness. Without health, we cannot do any work and we cannot improve in life. So, health is the primary need for every one of us. To keep our health well, we should obey the laws of hygiene. Food, exercise, rest and sleep, regular habits, neatness and cleanliness, air and light, punctuality and peace of mind are the conditions for good health. Hence, we should eat healthy food and balance diet. We should be regular in all our daily duties. We should be neat and clean. We should be punctual in all our daily duties. Peace of mind is another condition for good health. So, we should not worry over small things of life. Labour must be followed by rest. There is an old saying-“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise “Therefore we should rise early in the morning and sleep in the evening.
Conclusion it is true that health is the best wealth. But it is a matter of regret that most of us do not realize it. Hygiene is taught in the class but nobody follows the principle of hygiene. Hence they are falling prey to many kinds of disease. However, it is hoped that they will soon understand their mistakes and will give up their dirty habits.
A healthy human being is a person that is healthy in every single aspect of the term “health”. Health is maintained not only by physical exercising, and having a nice fit and string body cannot be a guarantee of a real “health”. This is because health has various dimensions. These dimensions include very single part of the life of a human a man, a woman or a child. The violation of the functioning of any of this dimension may have a deep impact on the weight management of a person. Before starting analyzing the exact ways these dimension influence the weight management it is necessary to mention all of them. The seven dimensions of health are the next: physical dimension, spiritual dimension, emotional (psychological) dimension, social, mental (intellectual), occupational…

Narration Paragraph

A Disturbing News Event
This particular Saturday night, my life change extremely. Until this crazy night, I didn’t believe in all the advices that my parents told me. In the first place, I make an accidental decision that put me in a dramatic situation. Next, my usual schedule and normal routines had to change forceful. Later on, I had to deal with this dramatic an unpredictable situation in my life.
I had been growing up on a good atmosphere. My daily routine was perfect, but for a bad choice that I make, this scheduled take another sequence. At first, I spend all morning and afternoon with parents, shopping and running some errands. After our delicious lunch, we went home, to organize the things that we bought. Meanwhile we were making plans for later on, to go out or stayed at home. But we decided remained home and watched a movie. Even though I was checking my emails and searching for some information in my computer, and I got a text message from my friend Tania. Otherwise I didn’t reject the invitation from my friend, what a terrible decision to go out that night. After, having a really good time with my friends, my nightmare began ten steps to get home.
Soon I saw the lights of the police car behind me, my heart begin pounding so fast. At the minute that the policeman was standing up next to me and he began asking me question, I got so frightened. I felt so terrified and something inside me told me tonight is going to be a long evening. Meantime, the cop makes me do a variety of exercises to check how drunk I was. He looks at me seriously and put the handcuffs in my hands and took me to the police station. Finally, I could talk with my mother and explained her, where I was and what happen to me. I spend part of the night and morning on jail.
In conclusion, I had a horrible and disgraced weekend. The one thing that gave me peace was thinking about in Jesus. I got done in an awful situation, but I deserved, because I didn’t pay attention to my parents…

• ‘Network addressing’ uses one part to identify the path used by the router and one part for ports or devices on the net.
• ‘Routed protocols’ carry user traffic, while ‘Routing protocols’ work between routers to maintain path tables.
• Network discovery for ‘Distance vector’ involves exchange of routing tables; problems can include ‘slower convergence’.
• For ‘Link-state’, routers calculate the shortest paths to other routers; problems can include ‘inconsistent updates’.
• ‘Balanced hybrid’ routing uses attributes of both link-state and distance vector, applying paths to several protocols.Network Layer (Path Determination) • Layer 3 functions to find the best path through the internetwork
• Routing services use network topology information
• Provides best effort end-to-end packet delivery services to its user, the Transport layer
• Sends packets from the source network to the destination network based on IP routing table
• After the router determines which path to use, it can proceed with ‘switching’ the packetNetwork Layer (Communicate Path) • Addresses represent the path of media connections
